Starting To Actually Realize Magic Ain't Pretty XII

When you regain consciousness - you are in unfamiliar confines. The room is well lit with glowing balls of light that hang from the ceiling, not unlike some of the technology you recognize as Romuskan. Sitting up, you find yourself in a room covered with books in various states of age and dust while unfamiliar markings cover the floor. There are two banners hanging on each side of the wall with a symbol that you do not recognize, and Star seems to be leafing through books. The bookshelves are made of a material you do not recognize, and you notice there seems to be no doors or windows in the room at all.

A small desk sits at the middle of the room, with a bed and several chairs haphazardly placed to allow easy access to all the shelves.

“ACCESS GRANTED. WELCOME SON OF MEERIF. THE ARCHIVE HAS BEEN ATTUNED.”

You bolt upright - this is a voice you recognize from your first trip to the Romuskan castle. Star seems unconcerned however, and you notice his hand is placed on a piece of metal and glass that retracts into the ground after a moment.

Star looks back to you and smiles grimly. “Well, we found it. The anchor was a lemon. I will have to spend more time learning here, but this seems to be the vault of my ancestors and many more ancient wizards - I don’t know how it got here, or how the map lead me here, but there seems to be a reason I’m here, and it’s thanks to your help and persistence I’ve arrived here. On the walls sits a treasured family heirloom, the Meerif crest. I want to give this to you as thanks, {player}. I will send you home for now, but I will need to learn more about this place. I’m truly grateful to your help, but let’s keep this to ourselves for now, eh?”

Star throws a handful of feathers over you and that unfamiliar sensation of being pushed and pulled into a thousand different directions overwhelms you, and that strange sense of seeing yourself in a mirror overtakes you before suddenly you’re once again in your home.

You're left to wonder what exactly just happened. The memory of the Romuskan voice and the experience of teleportation combine to leave a shiver down your spine. Maybe tomorrow you'll get to farm in peace...
