Starting To Actually Realize Magic Ain't Pretty I

In a sound all too familiar, feathers shower your floor and Star Meerif appears, sitting on a fancy chair, face impassive and unreadable.

“Greetings {player}, it has been a while. I’ve missed our interactions quite a lot, and despite appearances, I’m quite fond of both your help and your tenacity. I’ve run into a problem and I’m looking to you for help.”

Star stands up and begins pacing while looking thoughtfully towards you every few moments.

“Can I tell you a secret? You see, magic is funny. My mentor used to tell me that magic was ten percent luck, twenty percent skill, fifteen percent concentrated power of will, five percent pleasure, and sixty percent unexplained. Obviously it’s more complicated than that, but the reality is sometimes you need real effort to power magic. It’s not just about specific coloration or gems, but their transmatrical energy is absolutely an important part of a spell's efficacy. Modern magical theory really struggles to explain the antimatter resonances between aligning matrices and aligning the energy investiture that is passed from naturally occurring sources of cranial application. In “T’rah: A History,” there have been several notable wizards who started the study of investiture of non-matter energy, mainly Dansernos in 223 and Byrer in 447…”

You begin to nod off as Star continues in detail about T’rah and magical theory. Deciding enough is enough, you step away to cook some breakfast as Star continues on, pacing the entire time.

“{player}, I’m stuck! I need help! I…we…won that treasure map in exciting fashion. No one ever considered hiding so many flags on a planeshifted dimensional warp between light and dark, but even now I’ve no idea what the map means!”

Star produces an identical copy of your treasure map and guffaws as you produce the same map.

“Oh, I made a copy, sorry. Anyways, let me sum up the problem. There’s a magical energy hidden in this map but I need to match it’s transmatrical energy and I realized there is so much effort put into this map I can’t possibly do it alone. I was hoping you could help me match the emanations of investment from the map and we could find the treasure together. I’ve been working on this so long that I will do my best to reward you in excess of the time and energy you’ve spent here, afterall it’s been almost an entire branch I’ve spent on this problem!”

Star hands you a list of items and you quickly realize he was not kidding about the amount of work this was going to take.
