Trouble A Head I

As you follow Lorn on his daily trek through the woods to forage items, he pauses and watches a storm stir the clouds above. In that moment, a dark and disturbed whinny echoes through the forest. Continuing in the direction of the noise, you cautiously come upon the source of the disruption.

"Alpie!! Easy! What's gotten into you?!" a voice pleads as you see a rider struggling with a dark steed. Suddenly, the startled horse rears back, dropping its rider before bolting through the clearing, and vanishing beyond the trees. "Blasted steed!"

At the sight of the disaster, you hurry with Lorn over to the rider, only to be greeted by a neck bereft of its head. Acting instinctively, despite his shock, Lorn calls out. "...Are you...alright?"

In response, a voice rises from beside the rider’s body. "I appreciate your concern, but no…" At that, the body seizes a pumpkin lying on the ground to the side of one leg, and pops it into place on the empty neck. A jack o’ lantern face grins at Lorn, and the voice speaks once more. "...Unless you can summon my horse back here. He likes...candy corn."
