Queen Bea of Friendship

“Did I ever tell you about the time that Geist and I ruled a kingdom?”

“After the Dragon War, Geist and I ran away for a long time. We lived a quiet life by the sea. We mourned. Our losses were so great. Everyone we ever knew was gone. They all destroyed each other. It was devastating, but as we mourned together, we found comfort. Our shared tears began to heal us. So, we cried a lot. We explored our new home, and we ate loads of fish. Our lives continued that way for many leaves and likely some branches.”

“Eventually, we both got curious to see what had become of the lands we once knew. Geist kindly flew us first to the land that was once my home. As we passed overhead, we saw groups of men fighting each other. Once more, war was raging here. But, as Geist descended from the clouds, the men stopped fighting and most of them ran away.”

“A few of the warriors, that were fighting moments before, were now frozen in awe of Geist’s majesty. They stared up at her until she suddenly relinquished the manifestation to me. When they saw me standing on the ground where a dragon was a moment before, they fell down on their knees and hid their faces in the grass. I was shocked and had no idea what to do. While I was conferring with Geist, some of the warriors that ran away returned and fell down with their comrades. The count of prostrate warriors continued to grow while Geist and I decided what to do.”

“We decided to speak to them. I spoke up in a commanding voice and said, ‘Who is in charge here?’ No one moved. I tried the same words twice more. Then, Geist used a little universal communication spell and I spoke again. This time, one of the warriors stood, but kept his head bowed.”

“I asked the standing warrior why they were fighting. He told me of the wrongs that were committed by the other groups of warriors that were still gathering and kneeling around me. I don’t know what came over me as I listened, but I suddenly told the man to stop. Then, I told all the men to stop fighting. ‘No more!’ I said, and Geist cast a great explosion in the sky.”

“Everyone was very still for a time. Then, the warrior that was standing said, ‘Yes, my queen.’ and put his hand on his heart. Another warrior rose and said the same and covered his heart. Then, another warrior did the same, and another and another, until they were all standing, heads bowed, hands over hearts.”

“Geist whispered to me, ‘Maybe we can help them.’”

“And we did, for a very long time, but I’ll save that story for your next visit. Now tell me about how you ended up in Redbrook…”
