Plumming The Depths III

“You weren’t lying! Eebeeeebee said the refined plum ore was satisfactory. And he has no idea that a human did the refining. So good job! Also, sorry. I just can’t mention humans around him. It’s pretty much guaranteed to ignite his already notoriously short fuse. Honestly, if he knew you were helping me…let’s just say, I’d be in deep trouble.”

“Ok. I promised to teach you some history. Where to start…”

“Let’s just start with the Otipeg Line. It wasn’t built all at once, but it was completed a long, long time ago.”

“Do you know the Dragon War? The Otipeg Line was actually first conceived shortly after the war started. The humans assumed we faefolk would side with the dragons. They were wrong, of course. They had no idea what side we were on. They also never even bothered to ask. Some human just up and decided we were enemies. Then, the human leaders commissioned several tribes of mages to start building a barrier. The wall was invested with all sorts of nasty magic to keep faeries away. To be fair, we faeries do like taking things and this also stopped that too.”

“Before we go on, do you know how to forge plum iron? You do! You’re so weird, but so great! Would you be willing to bring me some plum iron? It would really save me a lot of time and trouble. Just make sure you don’t make it too human-y, ok?”
