Pirate Stealth Arrival XXVIII
Approaching the cove, aided by the cover of night, your party sees the flicker of campfires. A sprawling set of ships is arrayed around the cove - almost too many to count. The raucous din is only interrupted by loud bangs and the occasional ship to ship contact, a wooden crash and creak of boats moored too close together.
One bonfire near the center of the cove that leads out towards Highland Hills stands higher than the rest. Vincent notes that is likely where the leaders are all together, and suggests any reconnaissance is focused on that area. Remembering some of the old routes that Buddy knew of in previous adventures, you lead your companions towards a small inlet in the cove and find the boat that Buddy sailed off with several days ago docked in the same inlet. Chance, it seemed, was on your group’s side!
Stepping into the grotto, you get a closer look at Buddy’s boat and realize belatedly that several parts of the hull haves been smashed, and the entire boat is in quite significant disrepair. There is crude writing of warnings across the bow. Too late, you realize, that this area was known to the pirates. A scuffle breaks out behind you, and before you can blink, pirates have bound and gagged your companions. One looks to you and as you backpedal towards the wall, he gives a malicious laugh. You feel the wall behind you, when suddenly it melts away, and you feel a hand roughly cover your mouth.
Everything goes dark and you hear behind you, “Shhh…”
