One Shell of a Summer
The war is over. The frogs moved on to other areas and left a shell-strewn wasteland in their wake. Thankfully, most of the cicadas are gone and you can finally hear yourself think again.
frank sits on a tree stump nearby, munching on a carrot. "i don't know, star, i'm just saying if i was him, i would have let the people go."
Star rubs his temples and says, "frank, what are you talking about?"
"nevermind. different universe. you know my name is npc_bunny1 in that one? weird place. i don't recommend it."
"Do you think we saved enough cicadas to get a good reading?" Rosalie asks.
Star slowly nods. "No thanks to the longhaired lepus, here, but yes. I think we did."
"who are you calling longhaired, you two-bit excuse for a birthday party magician!" Bits of carrot fly out of frank's mouth as he shouts.
Star stands up suddenly and makes a noise you previously thought impossible for a man or wizard to make. Without another word, he disappears with a resounding *POP* leaving nothing behind but a pile of feathers and a wizard hat next to Rosalie. A moment later, he pops back, grabs Rosalie, then they both disappear with an even bigger mound of feathers.
frank looks at you with mischief in his eyes.
"i'll pay for that later, but i'm just going to savor the moment for now. say? how about another bag of carrots for the road? and thanks for your help! if you hadn't tagged along, why i'd... i'd still have done everything the exact same... why did i bring you again?"
He doesn't leave you time to answer, but you know why. He takes the bag of carrots and disappears in a puff of blue feathers. You look around at the mess left behind. You crack your knuckles and get to work cleaning it up before the next adventure sweeps you off again.
