Gourd Intentions III
Exhausted from churning for what felt like ages, you return to the kitchen. Mariya is humming to herself. She’s moving so efficiently, handling food so skillfully, and for a moment you imagine what she could do with a larger space.
”Perfect timing! Hey, what do you get when you drop a pumpkin? A squash!” She laughs, and again, quickly recomposes herself. She puts the finishing touches on her desserts, and sticks them in the oven. “Now, we wait.”
Mariya offers some refreshments and the two of you talk to pass the time. “My sister and I would bake these every year, and we would always think up the best puns. I’m thankful that you came today.” She takes a sip of her drink. “I miss her, and keeping up our traditions just warms my heart.”
Another hour passes, and the aroma is unlike anything you’ve smelled before. Mariya removes the desserts, and quickly chills one. She wraps it up for you to take home. “I hope you enjoy this as much as I’ve enjoyed making it with you!”
