Full of Thanks I
George is exhausted. He worked all day yesterday preparing for and teaching a Spectrum of Painting class at the school. As soon as the class was over, he hurried to the Halloween Festival to help with setup. Then, he spent all evening doing face painting for the kids at the festival.
When the festival finally ended George helped Lorn take down his booth before starting to take down his own. By the time he started to pack up his booth, a rainstorm blew in and stormed in all its might. George got soaked from his head to the tips of his toes deep down in his boots. He hadn’t been drenched like that since his soldier days.
After he finally got all of his stuff packed up, George covered his cart and then tried to push it all the way home. The cart ended up stranded in some mud near Jill’s place. George ran up to Jill’s house to let her know the cart was staying there for the night, before he finally headed to his house.
Once George made it inside, and after changing his clothes, he discovered a significant mess of paints and dishes and odds and ends scattered about his kitchen. He meant to get home earlier to clean everything up before bed. After debating whether to leave the mess, he decided to just straighten up a bit before calling it a night. Unfortunately, he lost track of time and worked on cleaning until well after midnight.
When George realized how late it was, he hurried to bed as quickly as he could. If he fell asleep right away, he knew he would get five hours of sleep. Unfortunately, worrying about falling asleep kept him awake for another hour.
Somehow, George managed to wake up a few minutes before Thomas arrived to join George for some early morning fishing. They had a pleasant walk down to the river. Then, George and Thomas sat out on the banks of the river all morning. They didn’t catch a thing. It was more than a little demoralizing. Eventually, they both gave up and parted ways.
George arrived home, stowed his gear, and noticed the mess he wasn’t able to finish the night before. He dove in and got to work on it, and he finished right before dinner.
Now, George is sitting on his couch too exhausted to get up and get something to eat. Will you bring him one of his favorite meals? He needs a little boost from a friend.
