Archeology Requires Knowhow XVII
Borgen immediately recognizes the gem’s mineral composition and matches Buddy’s growing excitement.
“It’s arihob mana! I’m sure of it Buddy! And there’s only one mine that produces it!”
“Is it out west? It has to be!”
“It is, Buddy. It is! We’re going to find where you came from!”
With a smile on his face, but seeking to keep expectations under control, Lorn breaks into the excitement.
“We have a starting point now, Buddy. It’s exciting, but we must keep in mind that there may still be more steps on the path.”
“I know. I know! It’s just so exciting! I haven’t ever had a solid lead like this. I’m going to find them! You all have to come with me! It’s going to be so fun and like you said Lorn I shouldn’t go alone and we’ll all find my family and they’ll invite us in and we’ll have a feast and they’ll want to hear all about me and my adventures and then they’ll want to come visit Redbrook and…”
“Buddy. It’s going to be great, but we have to prepare, for the trip and in case things don’t work out immediately. I think Borgen will tell you that there is a dangerous journey ahead.”
“Aye. It’s true, Buddy. We will have to prepare for this journey. It’s a beastly one. I don’t take it very often, and never alone.”
As you all look on, Buddy slowly suppresses his rolling boil of excitement, lets out a whoop, and then finally returns to his usual self.
“Ok. Yes. I can do this. Lorn, hold onto the gem and the leather scroll for me. I can’t have them around me right now or I’ll lose control and take flight like an eagle and head west. I may do it still. No. I can do this. Let’s prepare.”
Lorn takes the scroll and gem and puts the scroll in his pocket. He holds the gem up and says to Buddy, “Perhaps {player} should keep the gem for now. It’ll be one more layer of protection to keep you from temptation.”
“Yes! That’s perfect! You’ll hold it for me, won’t you, {player}?”
